About Me
Hi, I’m Pritom Saha Akash, a fifth-year Ph.D. student and Graduate Research Assistant in Computer Science at UIUC, advised by Professor Kevin Chang. My research focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP), with particular interests in Large Language Models (LLMs), Text Mining, and Recommender Systems. I have also contributed to collaborative research projects between IBM-UIUC and eBay-UIUC.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have gained hands-on industry research experience during the summers of 2023 and 2024. As a Research Scientist Intern at IBM Research, I worked on projects in Conversational AI, and at Amazon Science, I contributed to LLM-driven Product Search for Amazon Prime Video. I’m thrilled to continue this journey as an Applied Scientist Intern at Amazon in the summer of 2025.
Before joining UIUC, I earned both my BS and MS degrees in Software Engineering from the Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka (IITDU). These formative years built my expertise in Software Engineering and Machine Learning, laying the groundwork for my current research endeavors.
